Europol director Rob Wainwright‘Law enforcement agencies across the European Union have arrested more than 1,000 people in a closely coordinated nine-day sweep, in what a police chief has called the biggest organised crime crackdown in Europe.

Operation Archimedes targeted crimes ranging from drug trafficking to illegal immigration, tax fraud, counterfeiting and theft, Europol’s director, Rob Wainwright, told reporters.’
